Studio Adjective is honoured to have designed the bespoke "Vanity Mahjong" set for Louis Vuitton’s iconic mahjong trunk in 2021. A celebration of architectural form and craftsmanship, the design seamlessly integrates Louis Vuitton’s signature Monogram four-petal flower motif into every detail, creating a refined and harmonious composition.
Drawing inspiration from the structural nature of mahjong’s stackable form, Studio Adjective approached the design from a macro perspective, pioneering the concept of "Table Architecture." The result is a set that embodies geometric precision and architectural purity, transforming the game into an expressive design statement.
The Monogram’s timeless floral motif is delicately reinterpreted across the entire set, reinforcing its significance within Louis Vuitton’s heritage. Exquisite materials - including ivory composite stone, American walnut, and fine brass - elevate the tiles, wooden bars, and Wind indicator, imbuing the set with an understated opulence. Designed to complement Louis Vuitton’s classic trunks and cases, the set is more than a functional object; it is an elegant dialogue between craftsmanship and legacy, paying tribute to a century-old artisanal tradition.
This collaboration distils the essence of architectural refinement and luxury, where design, materiality, and heritage converge with quiet sophistication.
