Studio Adjective’s trilogy of tea spaces design for Matchali redefines serenity within urban's hustle and bustle, offering a seamless blend of tradition and contemporary flair across Hong Kong’s most iconic locations.
At IFC, a bold yet minimalist pavilion nestles under an escalator, its triangular shell cloaked in textured beige paint. A sleek horizontal slot frames the tea-making ritual, drawing passersby into the quiet choreography within. Inside, the brand’s signature pink forms a vivid skeleton, extending into layered platforms for plant displays and casual seating - an oasis amid the mall’s bustling atrium.
At K11 MUSEA, the design unfolds as a sculptural platform elevated to expose its textured footing. Painted in light beige plaster, it curves gracefully, forming subtle terraces for merchandise displays. At the center, a circular pink inlay becomes the stage for a 360-degree tea-making experience, with an elegant metal ledge adding both function and atmospheric charm.
At Starstreet Precinct - the brand's flagship location - offers a dialogue between heritage and innovation. Its warm beige façade and bold wooden frame create a lived-in feel, framing an inviting interior that shifts from sunlit café to cozy evening matcha bar. Inspired by the “whisking matcha moment,” the bar features volcanic ash-glazed ExCinere tiles, evoking the lush, dynamic landscapes of nature.
