Studio Adjective has crafted a serene, rustic coastal haven for Little Cove Espresso’s newest location in Sai Kung - Hong Kong’s breezy, sunlit escape known for its seafood and laid-back charm. Inspired by Melbourne’s relaxed café culture, the design invites customers to linger, savouring coffee amid views of the harbour and gentle sea breezes.
With its airy, double-height space and open connection to the street, the café embodies effortless minimalism. Textures of beige terrazzo, wood, marble, and grey metal blend seamlessly, evoking a natural coastal aesthetic. Curved architectural details, like arched ceilings and sweeping terrazzo benches, enhance the sense of calm continuity.
The L-shaped coffee bar, a sculptural centrepiece of grey marble and woven dark oak, mimics the rhythmic flow of ocean waves. Sunlight dances over the panels, casting dynamic shadows that shift throughout the day. Meanwhile, blue tiles behind the bar add a subtle nod to the sea’s hues.
Even the backyard, framed by warm wood fencing and lush plants, offers a tranquil transition to the washrooms, maintaining the thoughtful, cohesive design language throughout.
