Marking the first collaboration with renowned Amsterdam toast shop and café CHUN, the new outlet is housed within a monument building in the heart of Amsterdam with a decorative 19-ceuntry facade. In response to this context, Studio Adjective has crafted a new interior language for the brand - one that embraces warmth, tactility, and a finely tuned balance between contemporary refinement and the brand’s vibrant hospitality.
Spanning three levels, the café is a sequence of interconnected spaces. The entry level anchors the experience with a central bar, while seating areas extend both above and below, encouraging movement and discovery. The existing staircase has been reimagined, now enveloped in warm oak, with vertical planes subtly punctuating the space, visually connecting each level. Timber extends seamlessly across walls and partitions, its rhythm accentuated by precisely proportioned battens and delicate Japanese washi panels, offering a sense of intimacy within the historic framework.
